Admission Requirements

Master Programs & Certificate Programs

  • A bachelor’s degree or its educational equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.33
  • A Statement of Purpose
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Official Transcript(s) should be sent to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment or email admissions@hoodseminary.edu Transcripts are not official if they are not sent by the registrar in a sealed envelope or electronically through the clearing house of their choice.

Doctor of Ministry

  • Completion of a Master's degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.75 - 3.0 in the Master’s degree.
  • Letter of Support from church
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Official Transcript(s) should be sent to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment or email admissions@hoodseminary.edu Transcripts are not official if they are not sent by the registrar in a sealed envelope or electronically through the clearing house of their choice.

Non-Degree

  • A bachelor’s degree or its educational equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Official Transcript(s) should be sent to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment or email admissions@hoodseminary.edu Transcripts are not official if they are not sent by the registrar in a sealed envelope or electronically through the clearing house of their choice.

Admissions Checklist

Master Programs & Certificate Programs

  1. Submit a completed application for admissions with a $30.00 non-refundable application fee. ( Apply Online or Download Application Form)
  2. Statement of Purpose (Write a 3-to-5-page reflection paper detailing your faith journey, religious experience and how your educational training at Hood Theological Seminary will impact ministry now and in the future.)
  3. Request transcript(s) from all previous baccalaureate and any graduate-level work be sent directly to Hood Theological Seminary Office of Admissions & Recruitment or email to admissions@hoodseminary.edu Transcripts are not official if they are not sent by the registrar in a sealed envelope or electronically through the clearing house of their choice.
  4. Submit two Letters of Recommendation. Recommenders should include pastors, teacher/employer, and judicatory officer from your denomination. ( Download Recommendation Form)

Doctor of Ministry

  1. Submit a completed application with a $50.00 non-refundable fee. ( Apply Online or Download Application Form)
  2. Write a 5-page introspective paper detailing your spiritual and Ministerial Journey, (from call to present). Include how your doctorate will impact ministry now and in the future.
  3. Request transcript(s) from all previous baccalaureate and any graduate-level work be sent directly to Hood Theological Seminary Office of Admissions & Recruitment or email to admissions@hoodseminary.edu Transcripts are not official if they are not sent by the registrar in a sealed envelope or electronically through the clearing house of their choice.
  4. Contact the governing board of your ministry setting and ask the board to send us a letter indicating (a) your present involvement in ministry, (b) a reasonable assurance of your continuity in that setting of ministry for the duration of this program, and (c) their willingness to support you financially and programmatically during your participation in the program.
  5. Submit two additional Letters of Recommendation. ( Download Recommendation Form)

Non-Degree Program

  1. Submit a completed application. ( Apply Online or Download Application Form)
  2. One letter of recommendation. ( Download Recommendation Form)
  3. Official transcript indicating a bachelor's degree or its equivalent, from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or holding membership in the Association of Universities and College in Canada, or the educational equivalent. To be sent directly to Hood Theological Seminary Office of Admissions & Recruitment or email to admissions@hoodseminary.edu Transcripts are not official if they are not sent by the registrar in a sealed envelope or electronically through the clearing house of their choice.
  4. All students who want to transfer credits earned at Hood to another institution must verify prior to registering that the course will be accepted as transfer credit by the other institution.
