Supervised Ministry at Hood Theological Seminary is an essential part of the Master of Divinity program that students are required to take during their second year of study. Through placement in ministry settings and concurrent participation in a Supervised Ministry course, students are helped to think reflectively and critically about their practice of ministry. Challenged to think about issues of ministry and their own pastoral and spiritual formation, students are assisted to develop their skills in ministry as well as to discuss God’s call to ministry in clearer ways.
This practicum component is a powerful bridge builder in many ways.
- From the seminary to the church
- From the seminary to the community
- From the community to the church
- From the laity to the clergy
- From the seminarian to the supervisor
- From peer to peer
- From Director to supervisor
As students offer themselves in a process of conscious discipleship they are further equipped for transformative leadership.
While students have the freedom of choosing their own placement sites, the Supervised Ministry Program has over 50 placement sites it can offer.
