Dr. Kevin Griffin is a native of Augusta, GA. He earned the Doctor of Ministry Degree from Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, NC in 2022. He earned the Master of Divinity Degree, Suma Cum Laude, from Hood Theological Seminary in 2017. In 2002, he earned the Master of Business Degree from Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 2002, and the Bachelor of Business Degree from Georgia Southern University, Statesboro, GA in 1999.
Dr. Griffin is a bi-vocational leader, who has over twenty-five years of experience as a technology leader, and who humbly serves as the Chief Servant Leader (Pastor) for First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Charlotte NC. His research interests include effective church leadership and ministry team cohesion.
Dr. Griffin has served as the pastor of First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for nearly a decade. During that period, he has seen the hand of God on his ministry. The church has experienced revitalization and significant holistic growth. Some of the notable accomplishments include liquidating the church’s mortgage, expanding outreach ministries, establishing a community development corporation, and launching a digital learning center for the community.
Dr. Griffin is passionate about empowering and serving the least of these. As a result, he has served on numerous boards of non-profit organizations, to include the Harvest Center of Charlotte, NC, and the United Neighborhood Federal Credit Union in Augusta, GA. He has been an avid partner of the Pan Methodist Campaign Against Childhood Poverty through the non-profit that he launched in 2016, Big Changes Start Small, Inc. He is the founder and CEO of REACH Community Development Corporation, whose mission is to transform the community, one life at a time.
Dr. Griffin holds numerous professional certifications and graduate certificates in areas such as project management, program management, organizational change management, executive leadership, supply chain management, financial operations, and cybersecurity. He is a certified project management professional, a certified financial educator, a certified self-care coach, and a certified Actualized Performance professional, specializing in team building and leader development.
Dr. Griffin has received numerous awards. Electrolux presented him with the President’s Award for leadership and courage (2014), and Hood Theological Seminary honored Dr. Griffin, with the National Alumni Association Excellence in Pastoral Ministry Award (2024). In addition, he received awards for academic excellence while sojourning at Hood Theological Seminary. These awards include the Albert J.D. Aymer Endowed Scholarship (2014 & 2015), the George Leile Prize for academic excellence (2016 & 2017), the Harlee H. Lile award for practical theology (2016), and the Rober and Lois Pruehsner Endowed Scholarship (2016).
Dr. Griffin is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He is married to Angelle, and they are the parents of two children.
